The Vero 55 Backpack from Mountainsmith offers features that will get you to your base camp and beyond in secure comfort. The multi-use compression system has four pack-wide adjustment points, shoulder straps with double thick foam inserts that are individually adjustable, and an expandable sternum strap with a bite valve catch. The pack has a molded foam back panel with air channels that contours to your body without making you sweat. As a counter balance, the pivoting waist belt uses your hips to shift weight downward. Made with dual layers of foam and a HDPE sheet, the waist belt also has a handy zippered sleeve and pocket for quick retrieval of essential items. For a summit ascent, there's a detachable and convertible lid that can carry 366 cubic inches of essential gear.

The main pack in the large torso model can hold 3050 cubic inches of standard volume, and 2929 cubic inches in the regular torso model. The pack shell is made from 210d Cordura and Ripstop nylon fabric and 500 Kodra spun nylon with 420d High Tenacity Cordura nylon reinforcements. It has a white, polyurethane internal coating for extra waterproofing and high internal visibility. Fasteners include YKK zippers and Shockonloc hardware with bar tack and Hypalon reinforcements at key wear points. The internal support frame is made from two 6061 one inch T6 concave aluminum stays. For inclement weather there's a storm shield collar and an extended volume storm shield collar both with draw cord closures. For added convenience, there is zippered side access into the main compartment and a zippered expander sleeve that has drain holes so rain won't pile up in the folds.
